Owen Beach at Pt. Defiance Park
The promenade at Owen Beach has long been a favorite for generations of Tacoma residents. It hosts spectacular views of Mt. Rainier, the Ferry landing, Vashon Island and Commencement Bay. Point Defiance Park which was founded in 1905 through a grant from the Federal Government, is the second largest city park in the nation, second only to Central Park in NYC. The paved promenade was renovated in the early 1990’s with poems, sayings and notes imbedded in the concrete path, giving visitors inspiration as they meander along this gorgeous walkway.
