Never Never Land

Never Never Land opened as a trail and playground in Point Defiance Park on July 4, 1964. The 10-acre park featured 29 fairy-tale scenes including Little Boy Blue, Old Mother Hubbard, the Three Billy Goats Gruff, and many more. The structures were designed by French designer Jean Jaques Andre and Hungarian sculptor Elek Imredy and made from stucco, which deteriorated over time in the wet environment. Sadly the attraction was removed completely in 2010 and the figurines were destroyed in the Pagoda fire in 2011. However, the memory of this beloved Tacoma landmark live on in the hearts and memories of locals who once cherished the one-of-a-kind destination.
